Tips for the Best Green Smoothies
- Wash your greens and fresh fruit to have them ready to blend, and store them in bags in the fridge. I like to keep my seeds and nuts in mason jars for quick access also.
- Cool smoothies are the best, aren’t they? Personally, I drink more smoothies in the warm weather months. So here’s a trick for a no-waste garden and a special addition to your smoothies… green cubes!
Plant a big garden and don’t let greens go to waste. Get out your blender, add some water, and puree your greens! Pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Store them in a bag in your freezer and toss them into your smoothies!
- High speed blenders work best for green smoothies without chunks (I love my Vita Mix), but any blender will do the job.
- For easier clean-up, rinse out the blender immediately and allow it to sit with water so it doesn’t dry up.
- Only use essential oils that are for internal use in your foods, juice, or smoothies. You want to be sure the essential oils are of high quality and have stringent testing standards.
My new e-book, Essential Juices + Smoothies will be available at the end of this month. If you love juicing and blending, you’ll rock it with a new ingredient (essential oils).
